THIS M O N TH IN THE GARDEN
Set out basil plants,
above,
or sow seeds
this month. I ry different varieties, such
as lemon, Thai, or cinnamon basil. To
have a continuous supply of this
delicious herb, plant again every two
or three weeks over the summer.
Potted tropical plants can be placed
outdoors when days and nights are
warm. Plant them into larger pots if
needed to allow for quick summer
growth. Protect tropical houseplants
from wind and direct sun.
Deadhead or remove faded spring-
blooming annuals. Plant other annuals
that love sun and hot weather, such as
portulaca,
above,
zinnia, penta, lantana,
zonal geranium, or four-o’clocks. Mulch
around the plants.
